Advertising booklet for the film The Promised Land (Land Der Verheissung), which was called in Hebrew "To a New Life". The film was produced by Urim productions in Jerusalem, and directed by Yehuda Hellman. The songs were written by Natan Alterman and Daniel Sambursky. Film was co-produced by Keren Ha-Yesod, and was meant to be used for overseas propaganda. The booklet contains numeours photos. 15 pp, 24 cm. Fair condition. Detached, torn cover

1. Handwritten document with ink-stamps and signatures of jurists and clergymen of almost all Islamic sects; signed during a meeting of clergymen some of whom served as Mutwallis (managers of the Waqf property) in three major Hekdeshim in Jerusalem: Hekdesh Nebi David; Hekdesh Ahmad el-Dajani; Hekdesh El-Ruaq (property of Al Aqsa Mosque). The document includes a decision to appoint new Mutwallis for these three Hekdeshim. Leaf 51X42.5 cm. Heavy paper. Folded. Several stains and tears.
2. Document concerning Hekdesh on a very extensive area in Jerusalem which encompasses several villages. Apparently there is a claim concerning the Mutwallis of this area (the Hekdesh, its limits and villages as well as the Mutwalli's work are described in detail). Leaf 44X29.5 cm. Good condition. 1. "Letters to my 'Mizrahi' friends (internal)", issue no. 51. Passover, 1956. "Greetings" full of criticism to various public figures in Israel, amongst them: Levi Eshkol and Rudolf Kastner. [5] Leaves.
2. "Dear Knesset Member", letter addressed to Knesset members with reference to the 1929 riots and to actual incidents in Israel. [4] Leaves.
Gruewald (1882-1968) - a provocative journalist, criticize Israeli reality and mainly the Mapai party and the religious parties. Became well known when criminal defamation charges were filed against him by the State in view of his accusations against Kastner which were first published in his leaflet "Letters to a friend in Mizrahi".
Good condition. Minor tears.

Extensive collection of personal letters and documents belonging to Amnon Ish-Shalom (b. 1925), who served in the Palmach and the Royal British Navy. [1940s].
Ish-Shalom fougt in Gush Etzion with the Jerusalem HISH companies. Ish-Shalom suffered a head injury and was taken as prisoner by the Jordanians upon the Gush Etzion surrender, one day prior to the declaration of the State of Israel. He was discharged from prison on February 22 1949. Later in time Ish-Shalom founded the "Ein Bokek" hotel on the shore of the Dead Sea.
Presented here are numerous personal certificates and military documents as well as a collection of letters sent to Ish-Shalom during the 1940s, most of them sent by friends and family, part of the letters were sent during World War II and during the 1948 war, by friends who served in various military forces; letters sent by Ish-Shalom to his family and to his lover Rachel Goldman during the 1940s. Many of the letters were sent during Ish-Shalom's service in the British navy. Various sizes and conditions, general condition - good. About 240 letters (with various markings by the censor); about 30 documents, mostly military; several additional items.
