Or Ha-Chochma on the Bible. Chassidic and Kabbalistic innovative commentaries. By the Admor Rabbi Uri Feivel the Maggid of Dubienka. (Koretz) [Lashzov, 1815]. First edition. With approbations by Rabbi Meir Kristianpoller, Rabbi Ephraim Zalman Margaliot, the Sear of Lublin and more.
Extra sanctity is attributed to this book, Rabbi Moshe Tzvi Landa of Kisvarda writes in his book “Shulchan Melachim”, on the laws related to the birthing mothers “and it has become customary to place the book, wrapped in a sheet beneath the head of the birthing mother as she experiences the contractions – and it is customary to place the holy book Noam Elimelech and the holy book Or Ha-Chochma”. [His words are quoted in the Poskim’s books]. It is also reported that the Gaon Rabbi Yeshaya Zilberstein of Vac, “was used to sending the “Or Ha-Chochma” to laboring mothers, so it could be placed beneath their cushion as a Segulah for an easy birth”. See enclosed material.
This book was printed in Lashzov, but because of the “censorship” the place of print has been switched to “Koretz” on some of its copies, the date of print and approbations have been modified to 1795.
Refer to the Bibliography Institute CD, record 020798. In the present copy, the first title page has the name Koretz, while the second title page doesn’t mention the place of print.
[2], 76, 46 leaves; [1], 60, 59-103 leaves. (Missing page 103, and the upper half of the first title page is also missing. Wrinkles and tears on the second approbation leaf). 22.2 cm. Fair condition, wear, stains, light moth damage. Censorship stamps. Unbound.
