Token with the Tetragrammaton – Commemorating Albert IV, Duke of Saxe-Eisenach – Germany, 1645
Token minted to commemorate Albert IV (1599-1640), Duke of Saxe-Eisenach who died in 1644 with no successors. [Germany], 1645.
Obverse: A cloud spreading light with the Tetragrammaton within it. Below appear three palm tree branches depicting the three Dukes: the middle branch stands for Albert, picked by a hand coming out of heaven. The image is surrounded by the legend in Latin "E Medio Ad Mediatorem". Reverse: Latin legend with the dates of birth and death of the duke and the minting day of this token, 7.4.1645.
Diameter: 24 mm. Good condition. Bends. Lacking suspension loop.
