The Great Dress – Morocco
Items from a bridal costume. Morocco, [first half of 20th century]. Velvet, embroidery threads, various fabrics. 1. Skirt. Decorated along the hem. Tied with strings around the waist. 92X86 cm. 2. Vest. Short sleeves made of green velvet, with ribbons on the upper part and two metal beads which serve as buttons. The lower part and the lining are made of turquoise felt. 50X50 cm. 3. Blouse made of off-white cotton, with wide sleeves. A green velvet part in front, with a pattern made of embroidery-ribbons; a string to adjust the size in the back. 59X49 cm. 4. Wig (part of bride’s headdress) made of a decorated band with black, long, silk threads. Diameter: 21 cm, length: approx. 120 cm.
