Two Publications of the Battalion for the Defence of the Language

1. "Memorandum concerning discrimination against the Hebrew language by the telegraph department of the Eretz Israel government…. Presented by Israel Amikam (Massayof)". Haifa, 1933. Memurandum requesting to acknowledge Hebrew as an official language by Mandatory Postal Services, signed twice by Israel Amikam, chairman of the Battalion for the Defence of the Language in Haifa. [2], 9 pp, 31 cm. Good condition. Stains, minor tears and folds.
2. "To the Jewish Public in Israel!" Proclamation issued by the Battalion for the Defence of the Language, Institutions Department. "HaPoel HaTza'ir" printing press, Tel-Aviv, 1924. Proclamation issued by the Battalion for the Defence of the Language calling the general public in the country to speak and write only in Hebrew. 31.5X46 cm. Good condition, tears, folding marks.
Battalion for the Defence of the Language was an organization which was active during the years 1923-1936 and trying to protect the Hebrew language, spreading it and integrating the language into daily life of Jews in Eretz Israel.
