Postcard Collection – From Rabbi Aryeh Leib Rozen of Paltishen to his son-in-low Rabbi Ze’ev Wolf Gottlieb
Collection of family postcards sent to Rabbi Ze’ev Wolf Gottlieb. [Romania, Germany, Belgium and Eretz Israel], [1939-1942].
Among the postcards, letters handwritten and signed by Rabbi Avraham Aryeh Leib Rozen (1870-1952), among the Torah geniuses of Romania, Rabbi of the communities of Bohosh, Voinesti, Paltishen and Bucharest. Author of the Eitan Aryeh responsum, the She’agat Aryeh and the Birkat Avraham. One of the postcards has a handwritten and signed addition by his son Rabbi Moshe David Rozen, chief rabbi of Romania for about forty five years. The letters’ recipient, Rabbi Ze’ev Wolf Gottlieb (1910-1983) was the son in law of Rabbi Aryeh Leib Rozen. He was among the rabbis of Vienna through the years 1932-1938, in 1950, he was elected chief rabbi of Scotland.
