Notepad Holder, Product of the Workshop of Elhanan Hefetz – Jerusalem – With Carved Wooden Plaque

Notepad holder, from Elhanan Hefetz's workshop for artistic leather bookbinding and other tooled leather products, one of the workshops operating under the auspices of the Bezalel School of Arts and Crafts. Jerusalem, [ca. late 1920s]. Leather-covered notepad holder. On front, inlaid carved olivewood plaque, depicting a harp suspended from a willow tree, over a background showing the sun rising over houses (inspired by Psalms 137:1-2, "By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion. Upon the willows in the midst thereof did we hang up our harps"). Approx. 24X18.5 cm. Good-fair condition. Minor wear and blemishes. Abrasion to leather. Provenance: 1.
