Het Boek Genaamd De Vervulde Penne Josephs, prayers compiled and translated from the Hebrew by Joseph Hamburger. Groningen: Hendrik Vechnerus, 1788 [on the title page: 1787]. Dutch.
The prayers were composed by Rabbi Shaul ben Aryeh Leib Löwenstam (the rabbi of the Ashkenazi community in Amsterdam), Rabbi Shlomo Shalem (the rabbi of the Sephardi community in Amsterdam), Rabbi Shlomo Sruk and others. Collected, translated and printed on the initiative of Joseph Hamburger, on the occasion of the marriage of the rulers of Holland, William V of Orange and Sophia Frederica Wilhelmina.
Copy signed by Joseph Hamburger (signed on p. 64: "Joseph Salomons"). Appearing on a blank page preceding the title page is a handwritten inscription [by Hamburger?] containing details regarding the book's publication [a similar inscription was also found in another copy of the same edition].
IX, [2], 12-64, [1] pp. Approx. 20.5 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains, dampstains and light creases. Renewed binding, with part of the original spine.
