Manuscript Rabbi Eliyahu Shapiro Av Beit Din of Charnekavi. Chiddushim on Sugiot of the Shas, sermons and commentaries on weekly Torah portions and Midrashim of the Sages, matters of prayers, holidays and festivals, poems and more. Two volumes in autographic handwriting from 1839-1852.
Manuscript unprinted. In several places Rabbi Eliyahu cites sayings in the name of his father and mentions the locations where he served as rabbi: “That which I delivered in the congregation of Charnekavi on Shabbat Parashat Ekev 1839…”. One of the pages contains some sort of an introduction to the composition: “Atzat Eliyahu… after the Mishna in Avot ‘Ben Chamishim Le’Eitza’… therefore I put it down in writing so that it be distributed among the Jewish people…”.
The Ga’on Rabbi Eliyahu Shapiro (1805-1855), son of the Ga’on Rabbi Yosef Yaski Shapiro Av Beit Din of Leslie. Authored Leket Eliyahu on Rambam’s Sefer HaMitzvot (Breslau-Kratshin 1834-1835), served for many years as Av Beit Din of Charnekavi adjacent to Posen and corresponded with its rabbi, the Ga’on Rabbi Akiva Eiger (see: Responsa Rabbi Akiva Eiger, edition 141, Siman 59).
