Birat Migdal Oz, prayers, ethics and laws. Rabbi Ya’akov Emden – The Ya'abetz [Lemberg?] as printed in Berdichev, [c. 1860].
Third part of the "Paltin Beit El" prayer book, edited by Rabbi Ya’akov Emden. This section includes laws and manners of conduct from birth until death, methods of education, laws of Issur and Heiter [things which are prohibited and permitted] and more. Approbations [copied from the Berdichev edition] of Rabbi Mordechai from Chernobyl and Rabbi Yisrael from Ruzhin.
Signature of Rabbi “Moshe Yechiel HaLevi Epstein – The Rabbi from Ozherov” upon title page of book. Correction glosses in the rabbi’s holy handwriting throughout pages of the book. Upon page 78 the Ya'abetz writes “it is unfathomable to scorn the scholars of France for eating ox meat as stated in the letter” to which the Rabbi from Ozherov responds in handwriting: “It has turned out that the letter is a forgery”. The signature and glosses are in pencil.
Rabbi Moshe Yechiel Epstein – Rabbi of Ozherov (1890-1971, Encyclopedia of Chassidism, 3, page 351), a genius known for his diligence and a holy Chassid. Was rabbi of Ozherov from the year 1916 and began serving as Admor from the year 1918. Among the greatest Admorim in Poland, USA and Israel. Spent dozens of years writing the series of books Esh Dat and Be’er Moshe, however, did not publish them until he reached the age of sixty. Among the heads of Moetzet Gdolei HaTorah [Council of Torah Sages].
