The book Ma'ayan HeChochmah, from the writings of Rabbi Yitzchak Luria [the Ari], together with the book "Shever Yosef", "Kabbalat Mahari Srug", and "Kitzur Olam Hatikun", Koretz, 1784.
Title page of the book displays two ink stamps of the rebbe, Rabbi Nachum Dober Friedman of Sadgora, ink stamp [cropped] in Hebrew and secular, with the likeness of a lion in the centre, "Nachum Dober Friedman", and the second ink stamp "minchat shai" (gift). Ex-libris on the front binding page of the binding: "Book Collection of Rabbi Nachum Dov Friedman of Sadgora".
Inside the book, a handwritten comment by the Rebbe denies tribute of the book "Shever Yosef" to Rabbi Yisrael Srug: "but it is accredited to Rabbi I. S. R. of Kandava…". In several places the Rebbe noted the name of the person who bequeathed him the gift together with his mother's name on the page margin, presumably to remember him when he studied from this book.
The rebbe, Rabbi Nachum Dober Friedman (died 1883, Otzar HaRabbanim 15912), son of the rebbe, Rabbi Shalom Yosef of Ruzhin and son-in-law of his uncle, the rebbe, Rabbi Ya'akov of Sadgora – both sons of Rabbi Yisrael of Ruzhin. [Concerning his impressive library see "Kedem" Catalogue, No. 2, Item 249; No. 4, Items 306-307]. He had three ink stamps, the books he received from his father were stamped "my father's estate", those which he had bought himself "purchased with personal assets" and those he received from his followers or his uncle / father-in-law's followers displayed the stamp "gift", as in the book presented.
