Three 16th century books, bound together (the first two books were presumably printed together):
• She'erit Yosef, Talmudic methodology, by R. Yosef ibn Verga. Mantua: brothers Yitzchak and Shlomo, sons of R. Shmuel of Norzi [Tomaso Ruffinelli press], [1593]. Second edition.
• Halichot Olam, Talmudic methodology, by R. Yeshua HaLevi, with Mevo HaGemara by R. Shmuel Hanagid. [Mantua: Tomaso Ruffinelli, 1593].
• Responsa of the Ran (Rabbi Nissim Gerondi). Rome: Isaac de Lattes, Benjamin of Arigniano and Antonio Blado, 1545-1546.
The first edition of Responsa of the Ran, printed from the sole existing manuscript (as noted by the publishers). Glosses by R. Isaac de Lattes were printed in the book.
Three books in one volume. She'erit Yosef: 44 leaves. Halichot Olam: 40 leaves. Responsa of the Ran: 173, [33] pages. 20.5 cm. Condition varies. The first leaves of She'erit Yosef and many leaves of Responsa of the Ran are in fair-poor condition. Halichot Olam is in good-fair condition. Stains. Extensive dampstains, with traces of fungus (to bottom of pages). Worming and open tears to first leaves of She'erit Yosef, affecting text. Extensive worming to bottom of many leaves in Responsa of the Ran. Open tears to margins of many leaves in Responsa of the Ran. Censorship deletions in the first two books. Handwritten inscriptions. Early, parchment binding, damaged and stained.
