Letter from Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneersohn – the Lubavitcher Rebbe, with his signature. Brooklyn NY, 3rd Cheshvan 1960.
Typewritten on the official stationery of the rebbe, with his English signature.
Addressed to R. Avraham Gafni in Melbourne, in response to the news of his completing the process of his conversion to Judaism. At the beginning of the letter, the rebbe quotes the saying of the sages "A convert is like a newborn" (Yevamot 97b), and blesses him: "I hope and pray that you will retain this feeling of joy and exaltation, and the deep sense of responsibility and other worthy feelings which you expressed, throughout your life, and that these feelings be the true dynamic forces in your daily life, to live up to the Torah and Mitzvoth in the fullest measure".
At the end of the letter, the rebbe instructs him to remain in touch with the Chabad yeshiva in Melbourne, so that they can be of assistance to him, and he expects to hear from him good news in all of the above, as well as in regards to a suitable match.

Addressed to R. Baruch Gopin (one of the first settlers of Kfar Chabad. He was a member of the town committee and was dubbed by the rebbe "Kfar Chabad Minister of Housing"), with the approach of Chag HaGeulah 12th-13th Tammuz, holiday commemorating the liberation of the rebbe's father-in-law, Rebbe Rayatz of Lubavitch from Soviet imprisonment in 1927.
In his letter, the rebbe relates to R. Baruch Gopin's communal work and to how he must influence his surrounding for the better. The rebbe guides him to act: "in pleasant ways, ways of peace… in particular since these days are propitious days for all this, since we are in proximity of the days of redemption 12th-13th Tammuz, the redemption of the rebbe [Rebbe Rayatz], who dedicated his life to implanting positive character traits in all those connected to him and who go in his ways". The rebbe concludes with hope: "Words emanating from the heart enter the heart of the listener and make an impact".
At the foot of the letter, the rebbe adds an instruction to R. Gopin: "surely… he will be more limited in drinking alcohol etc.".
The present letter was not published in Igrot Kodesh of the Lubavitcher Rebbe.

נשלח אל הרה"ג פסח קוקיס בבת-ים. במכתב מברכו הרבי: "ופעולותיו בקודש, הפצת תוה"ק [תורתנו הקדושה] (הנגלה והחסידות) ומצותי' בק"ק דילי' – תעמוד לכת"ר להעלות בקודש מתוך בריאות הנכונה".
בסוף המכתב, לאחר "כבוד ובברכה", הוסיף הרבי בכתב-יד קדשו את המילים: "לבשו"ט [לבשורת טובות]".
הרה"ג פסח קוקיס (תרס"ג-תשמ"א), מראשוני תלמידי ישיבת חברון בחברון ורבה הראשי הראשון של העיר בת-ים במשך למעלה מארבעים שנה. פעל להקמת תלמודי תורה, ישיבות, בתי-כנסת ומקוואות בבת-ים. פרסם מאמרים בכתבי העת "הנאמן", "קול התורה" ו"שערי ציון"; ומחבר "ברכת פסח" על התלמוד ועל פרשיות התורה.

בסוף המכתב, לאחר "בברכת" הוסיף הרבי בכתב-יד קדשו את המילים: "הצלחה בעבוה"ק [בעבודתו הקדושה]".

במכתבו מזכיר הרבי את ברכת הפרידה של בעל הגאולה ביום ג' תמוז תרפ"ז, בעת שנפרד הריי"ץ מקהל חסידיו בבית הנתיבות (לקראת יציאתו לשלש שנות גלות בקוסטרמה): "מיר בעטען בא השי"ת [בקשתנו מהשם יתברך], יהי ה' אלקינו עמנו כאשר הי' עם אבותינו אל יעזבנו ואל יטשנו", וממשיך להסביר את משמעות ותוכן דבריו. לקראת סיום מכתבו מברך הרבי: ויה"ר [ויהי רצון] אשר יעשה כאו"א [כל אחד ואחד] בכהנ"ל מתוך מסירת-הרצון האמורה ובתוקף וחוזק המתאימים באופן דעם לבדד ישכון... ועד אשר בצדק יאמר: כמופת הייתי לרבים ואתה מחסי עוז".

Meir [Charlov?], sent shortly before Chag HaGeulah 12th-13th Tammuz, holiday commemorating the liberation of the rebbe's father-in-law, Rebbe Rayatz of Lubavitch from Soviet imprisonment in 1927. In his letter, the rebbe quotes the words of his father-in-law, the Rayatz: "Not only was I myself redeemed on 12th Tammuz, but all those who cherish the Torah, those who observe mitzvot, and anyone who is called a Jew", and his blessing and encouragement: "To increase efforts in disseminating Torah and strengthening Judaism". In relation to this, the rebbe arouses about "the Five Campaigns: Torah campaign, Tefillin campaign, Mezuzah campaign, Tzedakah campaign and holy books in every home campaign… which are general, each of them shields and brings salvations", and the directives one learns from the redemption of the Rayatz: "When a Jew makes a firm decision in matters of Torah and mitzvot, G-d helps him realize his decision, despite any impediment and obstacle… since after he begins the selected work… he has paved the way for each and every one to improve in that area in strengthening Torah and Judaism… to make an impact on our fellow and on the entire environment".
The rebbe concludes with blessings: "With blessings of success in all the above, and with joy and redemption from all matters which obstruct and confound, with blessings for Chag HaGeulah", and blesses him on the occasion of his birthday: "He should have a year of success in material and spiritual matters".
