Manuscript, "Book for a Cohen who leaves his place to bless the Jewish people in front of the heichal with Birkat Cohanim. Ashkenazi tradition". With Seder Kiddush HaLevana. Amsterdam, [18th/19th centuries].
Illustrated title page, with drawings of hands, fish and lions. The manuscript is written in an especially charming calligraphic writing, with red-framed pages.
Sections of a siddur and piyyutim recited by the congregation and by the Cohanim in chazarat hashatz (cantor's repetition) for Rosh Hashana and for Yom Kippur. Designated for a Cohen's use when standing on the duchan for Birkat Cohanim. Beginning from the prayer Hayom Harat Olam [at the end of the Shofrot blessing], including the prayers Areshet Sefatenu, V'Te'erav Lefanecha, Modim D'Rabanan, the Yehi Ratzon before the Birkat Cohanim, the version of the Birkat Cohanim, Ribonon Shel Olam, Hayom Te'Amtzenu… [The Avinu Malkeinu, kale dever v'cherev etc. does not appear in this manuscript according to the tradition of most Western-Ashkenazi communities who do not recite this passage].
Enclosed at the end of the volume is Seder Kiddush Levana, with a separate title page: "Seder Kiddush HaLevana. On Motzei Yom Kippur when leaving the synagogue, the custom is to sanctify the New Moon".
