Color painting of Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Ashkenazi (On Bakelite?)
Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Ashkenazi (1660-1718). Rabbi of Altoona, Hamburg and Andsbek, Rabbi of the Ashkenazi community in Amsterdam. Went through many communities in Ashkenaz and Poland and served as rabbi in Lvov. Author of Chacham Zvi responsum book. His son, Rabbi Ya'akov Amedin, the Yabetz, tells that when Chacham Zvi visited England, his oil-painting was drawn in secret, in an accurate way, and when he saw the painting "I stepped backwards as if I stood there alive". He also told that "many reproductions were made of this painting and were sold expensively".
Set in a frame with golden decorations 14.5 X 12.5 cm. Good condition. Domed glass.

"The countenance of the righteous Gaon Rabbi Moshe Yehuda Rabinowitz zt'l Rabbi of Horodna". Described and dated "Grodno 1916".
In 1883 Rabbi Moshe Yehuda Rabinowitz published a book called "The Great Eulogy" about the death of Rabbi Yisrael Salanter. In the year 1912, he signed together with the greatest rabbis of his generation, on the well-known letter to Rabbi Chaim Brisker concerning the "Torat Chaim" Yeshiva in Jerusalem – see enclosed material.
10.5x15 cm. Mounted on cardboard 15x20 cm. Fair condition.

On upper part of the picture drawings of a Torah-crown and Kehunah-crown, on the lower part - drawing of Shofar and French writing: "Rabbi Chaim Ha-Cohen of Fez (Morocco)".
Rabbi Chaim Ha-Cohen 1836-1924). Born in Fez where he served as Rabbi and was buried. When he grew old he lost his eye sight and he learned by heart with his disciples. On his burial day the city's rabbis instructed to close of shops and stop all commercial activities until after the funeral.
41.5 cm. Good condition. Some creases and stains on back side.

117 pictures of rabbis printed on cardboards the size of postcards (not divided as postcards in back). Published by the Yehoshua Shapira Book and Tallis Store, Lodz. Some are stamped in back by the ink-stamp of the publishing.
Pictures of the Rashbi, the Vilna Ga'on, and many pictures of Rebbes and rabbis (some are not known today). Fair through very good condition. Most of the pictures are post-card size; several are larger.
